A Pirate's Life for Sadie
Sadie was born a bastard of a Pirate Captain, Captain Jack Noir known as “Black Jack”, and a disgraced noblewoman, Lady Eda, or at least that’s what her father would have told her. She has very few memories now that stand out from her life before coming to live like
a young cabin girl on her Black Jack’s ship when her mother died at only 8 years old. While most pirates would have objected to a child being brought on board so young, her father was firm in his choice that she would be raised by him as a pirate and work as hard as one too. Any objections were met with a fierceness that ended all conversations about it. She spent her life being worked to the bone as any other crew member and found her home on the sea.
Sadie learned all of the tasks a pirate would undertake. She would swab the deck, learn to maintain the sails, help with the movement of goods, no matter how minor. She enjoyed learning, though she was far more sea-smart than book smart. Navigation is what she found a love for and she learned all she could about reading maps, sea charts, and navigating. She found a love for her father’s gambling and drinking too once she became of age, her unspoken ancestry lending to her ability to out bluff most pirates. As she got older, she didn’t hide her femininity, on the contrary, she developed a brazen personality that she was very much unapologetically her father’s daughter. She took to being a Swashbuckler easily with a flare for the showmanship, and she excelled at being a pirate. She picked up many of her father’s beliefs, including that pirates had their own code of honor, and if one doesn’t follow it they should be hanged like the dog they are. She earned her spot by the time she was 20 as her father’s first mate, which sadly was the beginning of the end of that chapter of her life.
Her life took a turn when her father’s ship was lost at sea and she washed up on the beach of a port city named Korvosa. With no signs of her former crew or her father in the city, and no pirate ships frequenting the docks here, she decides to become an Adventurer until she found a new crew or saved some money for her own ship. That is where she met Ashen, on one of several adventures she took with the Gun Chemist. Growing close to the Kitsune, she would decide to take him with her when she found a crew after being on land for over a year.
It was this crew that brought her to The Shackles to begin her new chapter exploring this pirate life she’s chosen.
